Room105 Chelsea Flower Show 2005Joe Swift’s article in today’s Saturday Times ‘Weekend’  features a double page spread showing the Room105 Chelsea Flower Show garden.  The garden highlights how architectural plants can be used for striking effect. At the forefront of its now growing popularity we chose Astelia ‘Silver Spear’, with its silver sword-like leaves, for a bold statement between sculptural glass.

The article includes Joes top 5 architectural plants:

  • Melianthus major
  • Dicksonia antarctica (tree fern)
  • Musa basjoo (banana)
  • Tetrapanax papyrifer ‘Rex’ (the rice paper plant)
  • Astelia ‘Silver Spear’

“..the combination of high visual impact and low upkeep means they won’t stay in the shade for long”
