I have always loved drawing and qualified as an engineering draftsman after I left school. My work gave me a technical drawing background and experience working with a range of materials.

When Computer Aided Design (CAD) replaced rooms full of drawing boards I changed careers and graduated in Garden Design at Writtle college, furthering my plant and horticulture knowledge with inspirational teaching from Christine Walkden of TV fame!.

My inspiration for garden design comes from a desire to explore the inter-relationship between colours and materials and their impact on the garden, and with my renewed love of art to experiment with a more contemporary approach to design.

I particularly enjoy helping people to find the right solutions for their garden and to subsequently turn my designs into high quality gardens. Being able to work outside and in the office (on colder days!) is a bonus. I’m now a fully confessed addict of CAD! as well as producing plans we now create 3D images with all our designs which really helps clients to picture the end result.

I now also have a garden at 600m in the Mediterranean with very different challenges, reinforcing the rule to note what planting works in the immediate area.

In garden arrangement, one has not only to acquire a knowledge of what to do, but also to gain some wisdom in perceiving what is well to let alone
