Roof Terrace - ‘The Triangle’

Brief:   A new spacious apartment with a roof terrace that was uninspiring and featureless. The clients were looking to extend the liveable space off the living room with a focal point, storage and an area for a BBQ. The site was also very windy and in need of shelter and ‘greening’.

Design Solution:  Hardwood balau decking replaces drab concrete slabs and continues the line of the living room wooden floor. The same wood is used within the planters and seating so that the space feels integrated.  We took a slight risk using artificial grass to offset the wood (as the couple were not both convinced) - however the result works well and the clients have enjoyed the feeling of ‘walking barefoot on a warm carpet’ in summer.
